WAVE RLT G2 light therapy – Large
Well-thought-out light therapy for daily use – on horses, dogs and yourself
When your dog does his best, he also deserves your attention afterwards
A Labrador who has worked concentratedly through a long day of hunting. A German Shepherd who loves training and physical activity. Or a Great Dane who enjoys a quiet moment after the day's walks.
What they have in common is that they use their bodies – and that you, as a dog owner, want to give them the best environment for a good and active dog life.
WAVE RLT G2 Large is developed for those who want to make Red Light Therapy (RLT) a natural part of their dog's everyday life.
With its extra large light surface of 85 × 45 cm, well-thought-out LED technology and controlled heat generation, Large allows you to cover larger areas at a time.
It's about prioritizing the dog's comfort and well-being – both on active days and in quiet moments at home.
NEW – Upgraded LED technology with dual 850 nm
WAVE RLT G2 now has an upgraded LED structure, where near-infrared light has been given special priority.
The Large toad contains 276 LED units with a total of 828 light chips.
Each LED unit combines:
- 1 × 660 nm chip with red light.
- 2 × 850 nm chips with near-infrared light.
This gives a total distribution of 276 light chips with 660 nm red light and 552 light chips with 850 nm near-infrared light.
Three light chips in each LED unit, divided into two different wavelengths.
With two 850 nm chips for every 660 nm chip, special emphasis has been placed on the near-infrared light in the LED design itself.
For those of you investing in Red Light Therapy for your dog, it is worth knowing the difference between the number of wavelengths and the way the light chips are actually composed.
Two products can use the same wavelengths, but have different LED construction, light distribution and power management.
The upgraded G2 design is therefore an important technical feature. However, the number of chips does not in itself prove double the brightness or greater processing power.
The classic WAVE G2 combination – now with upgraded LED construction
WAVE G2 continues to be based on two carefully selected wavelengths:
- 660 nm red light – visible red light.
- 850 nm near-infrared light – light outside the visible spectrum.
The two wavelengths have different optical properties and are combined in the WAVE G2's light configuration.
It is still the classic WAVE G2 combination, but the upgraded distribution of light chips gives the design a clearer priority of 850 nm.
When assessing the quality of a light pad, it's not just about what wavelengths are listed on the specification list.
It is also relevant to investigate how the LED units are composed, how the light is distributed across the pad, and how power management and thermal control are integrated into the design.
This gives you a better basis for understanding the technology behind your investment.
Large – extra large light surface for both small and large dogs
With dimensions of 85 × 45 cm, the WAVE RLT G2 Large is the largest of the three classic pad sizes Small, Medium and Large.
The large coverage area makes Large particularly interesting for very large dog breeds such as Great Danes and Saint Bernards.
But Large is definitely not just for the biggest dogs.
A Labrador, German Shepherd or Golden Retriever can also benefit from the large light surface when you want to cover a larger area of the dog's back, lower back or muscles.
And even a small dog can use Large.
On a smaller dog, the large light surface can allow for almost the entire body to be covered at once, depending on the dog's size and placement.
This offers some practical options:
- Wide coverage of the back, lower back and larger muscle areas.
- Possibility to cover a large part of the body on smaller dogs.
- Fewer repositionings when you want to illuminate a larger area.
- Flexible use for both small and large dog breeds.
The choice between Small, Medium and Large is therefore not just about the size of the dog.
It largely depends on how large an area you want to cover and which size is best suited to the specific application.
For smaller or very curved areas, a smaller pad may be more practical, while Large allows for wider coverage.
Light therapy in the dog basket – also for the small dog
A particularly practical option with WAVE Large is to place the light pad directly in the dog's basket.
When the toad is lying completely flat and stretched out with the light surface facing up, the dog can lie down on top of it while you sit next to it and keep an eye on it.
It provides a simple way to integrate Red Light Therapy into a quiet time when the dog is already used to relaxing.
For the small dog, the Large-pad's large light surface can provide the opportunity to illuminate a very large part of the body simultaneously.
For a larger dog, the same pad will typically cover a more limited area, such as the back or part of the body's larger muscle areas.
The small dog is not limited to the Small toad. On the contrary, the larger coverage area can be a practical advantage.
Important when the dog is lying directly on the pad
The toad should always lie completely flat and extended on a stable surface.
It must not be folded, placed in a sharp bend or loaded where the structure is bent.
The dog must be dry and under constant supervision.
Some dogs have a habit of digging or scratching in the dog bed before they lie down. The dog's claws can damage both the light pad and the transparent protective surface over the LEDs.
Therefore, the dog must not dig, scratch, chew or bite the equipment.
Discontinue use if the dog starts to do so.
WAVE should never be left switched on with a dog unattended.
Power density – more than just a number on paper
When investing in light therapy, power density is one of the technical details worth investigating.
Power density is measured in mW/cm² and describes how much
